The Election Commission has registered a new party in the name of NCP-UML. The party had applied for registration on June 26.
The then NCP (UML) and the NCP (Maoist Center) have merged to form the Nepal Communist Party (NCP). UML has not existed since then.
The commission registered the party almost two months after the application was received. Sandhya Tiwari is the Chairperson and Manish Kumar Upadhyay is the General Secretary of the newly formed NCP-UML.
The party had left its mark on the rising sun on the hill. A commissioner said that the decision to register the party was taken as all the criteria were met as per the law. According to him, the NCP-UML has become the 132nd party in Nepal.
