The Doramba Rural Municipality has started a very encouraging work for the beneficiaries of social security allowance residing in their municipality area. The social security allowance provided by the government for single women, the elderly, the disabled and dalits will be provided at home by the bank on behalf of the municipality from now on.
As per the agreement reached between Doramba village municipality and Global IME Bank, which has a branch in the same place, on Tuesday, the bank account of every beneficiary of social security allowance has been opened and the work of depositing the allowance in the same account has started. The bank has agreed to distribute to the disabled, handicapped and homeless beneficiaries from door to door.
However, in the case of social security allowances, the allowances have been misused in one form or another across the country, and the allowances have been distributed for a long time even in the name of the deceased beneficiaries. There are many instances of corruption cases being filed against the secretaries of the wards concerned.According to Dhiraj Maraseni, chief administrative officer of Doramba Rural Municipality, the municipality is distributing social security allowances through the banking system with financial transparency.
“Why is social security allowance being distributed through the banking system?” In response to the public voice query, Chief Administrative Officer Marasini says,
“This has been done because there is a lack of financial transparency in the distribution of allowances through door-to-door secretaries in the name of some non-beneficiaries,” he said. At the same time, it has become difficult for the beneficiaries to make good use of the amount received in the allowance in the village and there is a challenge in the security of the notes. In the case of the disabled, handicapped and the beneficiaries who cannot reach the bank, the bank will provide the allowance to them at their homes. ‘
According to Maraseni, the village elders kept the amount of their allowance in their pockets. In some cases, there is a problem of getting wet, lost and even the quality of the notes. There is a situation where the cash received as per the need is utilized while going to the banking system.
