The discussion of Bitar Park built at Ramechhap Municipality Ward No. 8 has not stopped and another appreciable work has been started by Ramechhap’s Sahayogi Maan (RASAM) .
The corona virus (Covid 19) is a global threat. A restraining order has also been issued in Ramechhap district. In such a situation, for the past half a year, the working class, who earn their living by earning , has become jobless, due to which this class has been facing a big problem. In some houses, the stove is not burning and the heat of the stove of the workers is getting very cold.
In Manthali, RASAM is about to start a campaign called ” Let’s give what we have, take who don’t have”.In a few days, Rasam is preparing to run a ‘food bank’ in Manthali as a campaign to calm the stomachs of the poor and helpless. After the country went into captivity due to the corona virus, Rasam is preparing to run a food bank keeping in mind the problems of the daily wage workers, middle class workers living in rent houses and lost their earning source.
What is Foodbank?
The food bank is a storehouse of food. Of course, if you go to any food store, you will find plenty of food. But that food is not available for free in the store. Limited food is available for free at the food bank. For those who earn and those who can make money, the food shops in the market are no different from the food banks. The non-earning class is in big trouble after the country went into captivity due to the corona virus. Such food banks provide free food as it is difficult to satisfy two meals a day. In this type of food bank, minimum items like rice, pulses, salt etc. will be available for daily stove burning.
Such food banks have come into operation in different parts of the country. A few days ago, similar food banks have come into operation in Jhapa of Eastern Nepal and Jhumka of Sunsari, Itahari. It is learned that this type of food bank has come into operation in Tamakoshi village municipality and city of neighboring district Dolakha.
In food banks, donors provide food and other necessities for daily life. Accordingly, the operators of the food bank distribute it fairly based on the needs of the people.
According to the members of Rasam, food wholesalers and other retailers have promised to help the food bank which is going to operate in Manthali.
Just above the district coordination committee Rasam has made, an unused building of the town development committee, very beautiful by painting it. Rasam is preparing to operate a food bank from this building.
How did the concept of food bank come about in such a difficult situation? In response to a query from Janata Voice, Rasam member Nawaraj Shrestha said, “Considering the situation of daily wage earners in the country due to the corona virus and the concept of food bank in different parts of the country, it is being practiced here.” Since this work is being done in the spirit of utmost service, we request you to donate as much as you can and those who don’t can take it with confidence. Rasam believes that all levels will be involved in this work.
“Even Manthali Municipality has given its consent for the campaign of the food bank,” Rasam said.
It should be remembered that the group has become very active in the field of social service in the situation where the country has become inactive due to Corona virus Covid 19. No political ideology, flag or ideology has been seen in this group till date.
